Hypernoot's Memories

Dating strategies which don't work

Alpha Sierra was trying all those dating strategies for more than two years without even a partial success. So don't waste your time on them. If that worked for you anyway, then you can claim the Nobel Prize for dating.

On the other hand, Alpha Sierra took it easily, when he realised that he cannot obtain her crush for sure. He just stopped obsessing over her in a single day and he started assembling plans to conquer the world by his new secret club and Menger currency. But he eventually stopped that too.

Behave well or I mess up your computer

A long time ago, as a small kid, I got somehow interested in a fairy tale, in which the main character gets a magic wand for doing three good acts in a row and the wand breaks after doing three bad acts. I once decided to apply similar thing for my classmates. In one day, I counted who did how many good and bad acts. If someone does three bad acts, then I mess up their computer's file system, namely I create one incident for each triplet of bad acts. If someone does three god acts, then I transfer them all programs I consider useful, including the programs needed to mess up someone's computer — and even programs to prevent other people from messing up the computer. It had just one flaw. I had only a vague idea on how to do any of that and I relied on my father that he would do it for me. I just thought that I needed to know the computer passwords of my classmates. So I printed one form for each classmate. There were basically two variants. The good students became a list of what programs shall be transferred into their computers, also classifying each program into three groups: day programs, night programs and games (there were no games, included just for completeness). The night programs were basically the programs related to that computer hacking, the day programs were all the other. And then, the form contained a prompt to fill in their computer password. And the form for the naughty classmates? It had just the prompt for the password and some text which I don't remember anymore. I just remember that both the forms were saying something like they should fill in the stuff to make their dreams happen, I don't remember anymore. And the reaction? One classmate was wondering why there are no games. And the teacher asked who gave these forms to the students. And that was all, nobody gave me the filled form back.

Coxeter-Dynkin diagrams the game

I once made a desk game, where the players assemble Coxeter-Dynkin diagrams out of randomly picked cards, and they score if that diagram corresponds to one of their polytope cards. To the advantage of the players, there were only at most 3D polytopes in this game. If you don't know what these terms mean, don't worry, it's not important for this story. And I so much desired to play this game with my classmates, but that has soon hit onto a wall. I wasn't able to explain them how Coxeter-Dynkin diagrams work. Well, two of them grasped it somehow and I played with them one game, which we didn't finish, I think. But other than that, I was mostly annoying the classmates if they would like to play Coxeter-Dynkin diagrams and I was just being refused over and over. Once I managed to convince a group to play it with me, but once I have shown my mate that he could have scored a point, they all stopped at once. Maybe they were just pretending that they understood, just to make me shout up. And that is the end of the game named Coxeter-Dynkin diagrams.

The girl which considered me tsundere

I remember that there was a girl in my class, which wanted Alpha Sierra a lot, but he was already obsessing over another girl. Alpha Sierra wanted a concrete girl, not just any girl. And because that girl didn't stop bothering Alpha Sierra, then Alpha Sierra delared her a class enemy. That girl didn't want to accept that Alpha Sierra wouldn't like her, so she made up the interpretation that Alpha Sierra was a tsundere. But he just mega didn't like her. So he was writing fairy tales in which she died in a terrible way, such as being suffocated by Zyklon B, or being fried, eaten and her bones re-used as sport equipment. While I think about it retrospectively, there were even such weird scenes, in which Alpha Sierra stabbed her by a sword from below, in a sword duel in a high-pressure containment zone, where Alpha Sierra had a sword made of solid carbon dioxide, while she had a diamond sword. While Alpha Sierra sometimes regrets that he didn't try dating with her at least, then I realise that such a person would be just abusing us.

TeraTux

I once got an idea to build a level set for SuperTux, which would have 1000 levels in total. And that was basically it. The first day, I managed to build 6 levels, so I decided to build 6 levels every day. It worked for some months, but the levels were getting progressively more and more cramped, as I was running out of ideas and motivation quickly. Sometimes, I was only copying existing levels over and over. Even that way, I was staying tens of levels behind the plan, so I eventually stopped entirely. After some time, I revisited the project and I finished the remaining 540 levels somehow. But less than 10% of them were actually unique. The website where I wanted to publish that, didn't accept any fan-made levels anymore, so I was mostly sharing it in my little local SuperTux community, where nobody got past level 13 (at that time). Besides that, we had a local community of roughly 4 people where we were sharing our SuperTux creations. We were even printing our own currencies, which we were giving to each other for contributing to the projects of each other, and could be spent for some fan hand-made items. I released 10 versions of TeraTux in total, but all except version 8 got lost. It's not worth playing anyway and some levels are just bugged somehow, so they are just impossible.

Chaos Game as an artstyle

At a time, I thought that everything is inherently fractal, so I tried to apply this idea to my art style as much as I could. I also learnt about a fractal rendering algorithm called chaos game. I was trying to render various fractals and images using it, I even wanted to make a game which would be rendered mostly by chaos game, but it was too slow to render even simple scenes. Nevertheless, I was trying to adopt my art style to the chaos game. Once over time, in my English lessons, we played a game where one student was drawing and the others were guessing. And I remember that I was able to draw a recognisable outline of Great Britan by scattering dots over the blackboard — not in a row long the shore, but in random order. So when I was scattering dots around the blackboard, the others already knew that I was drawing Great Britan. Using dots only, it is quite impractical. But if I use similar strategy, but using short curves, I can eventually converge to what I want to draw. I start with a rough outline, it doesn't even have to be correct, but it eventually becomes correct as I draw other parts of the image and it becomes clear what should be where. And as a bonus, I get shading, which arises from the misplaced curves.

The story of HL3Z

I was once disappointed that I cannot encounter any dateable girl, so I just constructed one in my mind. I gave her the name HL3Z. She was nice, indeed, but then I found out that she was already 40 years old. And the letters of her name arranged into the word hallucination.

Interstellar dreams

I don't know why, I remember only two interstellar dreams in my life. One of them was in the system of Sirius. I was flying across the system in a rocket with my dad, at superluminal speed. The rocket was also displaying orbits of the individual bodies. I don't already remember the role of Sirius B in that dream, maybe it was orbitting Sirius A like a planet, or it was completely absent. I wanted to land on a planet, but my dad wanted to investigate an orbit which led far from the origin — only to find out that the orbit just ends there, and there was a swear word written at the end. So we returned back to land on a planet. We landed in a house on a planet with atmosphere. There were rocky wastelands all around. In that house, we met the rest of the family. They said, that they got there because they flew too high in an airplane.

The next dream was years later, this time in the Alpha Centauri system. It had two unrelated part. The first part was on a planet orbitting around Rigil Kentaurus, I think. Maybe Toliman or both of them, I don't remember anymore. The planet had green vegetation and breethable atmosphere. I was in a bright house, it was early morning and it was already hot. And the temperature was supposed to rise up to 60°C. In the second part, I was on a rocky planet orbitting around Proxima Centauri. I don't remember if Proxima b was already discovered at that time, but it was somehow similar. And it had breethable atmosphere. I was in a car with my family, and it was approaching a triple dusk. It looked almost like three suns in an equilateral triangle, where one was red. But that was a nonsense which I wasn't really aware of, I thought that Proxima Centauri orbits Rigil Kentaurus and Toliman way closer. We were riding on a straight road through a rocky desert. We made a stop at a restaurant, where they gave us some food. They also said that they don't have any other food, as they all hold a diet.

Actually, I had some more dreams which certainly didn't happen on Earth, but they weren't related to any concrete interstellar body either. I had a dream which happened on terraformed Moon. I had a dream which happened in an alternative universe which I made up together with a friend. I also had a dream about searching extraterrestrial life, but the outer space had a form of a long hallway.

A sheep which climbs the ceiling

I remember that I got a homework in kindergarten. That is not usual, well, it was sort of a punishment for my creativity. In the kindergarten, I had to stick pictures of sheeps onto a blank paper. That was just it, no drawing was involved. And I realised, that the sheeps are not limited by any kind of physical laws. So they could be, as well, climbing walls, or even a ceiling! But the teacher didn't understand it and got mad at me for sticking a sheep upside down. I got a homework to redo it.
