Hypernoot's Idea Dump

These are some of my ideas which I mostly gave up, or I never even started working on them. I'm writing them here, so anybody can inspire.

Fractal Block World but with arbitrary polyhedra

The idea is, that the space would be divided by arbitrary plane. Every cell would be bounded by at most 16 planes, each of which could be split by an arbitrary plane. The cell definition would also handle which bounding planes should be replaced by the splitting plane when going deeper in either side of the splitting plane. It could be rendered using raycasting. I managed to implement this structure as a proof of concept, but it is not optimised for being a part of a game. I also had an idea that the gravity could decay by the fourth power of distance, which would make possible for the player to climb walls once they shrink enough.

game idea: The Signal and The Silence (SIGSIL)

This game idea was created together with ChatGPT. It is a game, where the player navigates a rocket through the Galaxy in realistic scale, except that the superluminal speed is granted. It is themed as how the people imagined space travel in 1950's, using digitron fonts (also the number 4 looking a bit like the Jupiter sign and number 5 a bit like Saturn sign but still legible). The mission starts in the year 2048 on Earth. The player has to collect knowledge around the universe, in order to find a missing piece to save the Earth ecosystem. There are various ruins and rarely even living alien races which can be contacted, once they are understood. To help navigation in the endless space, the player is equipped with an SSB radio, which can be aimed at the space to listen thermal noise, magnetic reconnections, thunderstorms, and eventually alien signals. To prevent repetition, the alien races are mostly inspired by their respective constellation, but not in a way to make it blindingly obvious. After reaching the distance of roughly 500 ly, the scheme changes to Chinese constellations. And after 5000 ly, the scheme changes again, but this time, it is just blocks of random ideas, including the constellations.

No Man's Test

A combination of Minetest and No Man's Sky, also with hierarchic arangement of nodes. The planets would be eventually subdivided so finely, so there would be rarely any inconsistency seen. I once tried to start this project in Haskell, but I never got to anything which would even do anything, regardless of being meaningful.

Big 8 personality test

This is a combination of Myers-Briggs and Big Five, testing each Jungian cognitive function separately, instead of relying on four dichotonomies. I worked on this together with ChatGPT, I even assembeld a test, but I'm not really satisfied with it yet. I somehow stopped working on this, no idea why.

A compact way to represent 3D rotations in computer

If I take the quaternions representing the 24 orthogonal 3D rotations (48 quaternions in total, as each rotation is represented by 2 quaternions) and make a Voronoi map out of them, I get the bitruncated icositetrachoron. Then, I can represent the rotation by the cell index (I can do with just 24 indices, as I don't care which of the two possible representations I use) (5 bits) and three fixed-point numbers, which represent the gnomonic projection of the deviation from the cell centre (3×9 bits). Note that each cell of a bitruncated icositetrachoron is a truncated cube, which is especially beneficial for cartesian coordinates. That makes 32 bits in total. This representation should be especially beneficial for implementations on an FPGA, as the orthogonal rotations can be performed just by wiring and sign flips. Moreover, the orthogonal rotations can be indexed in a way, so each bit becomes meaningful, i.e. applying a variant of a rotation or identity, which simplifies the calculations further, so the lookup tables can be significantly smaller. Multiplying two rotations is also doable effectively, as the calculated residuals never exceed to the opposite hemisphere. They may exceed to a neighbour cell, but it can be shown that detecting and fixing these cases can be implemented effectively too.

Mandelzoo

I once got the idea to collect Mandelbrot-like fractals which look clean, i.e. no distorted figures, chewed parts, Julia breakdowns, etc.. I rendered some fractals. I also wanted to render animated Riemann maps of them, but I never got to that part. Then I came with some new, i rendered them, but then I didn't add them to the Mandelzoo website and I procrastinated so much, so I didn't even manage to recover the full process ever again.

Meme Island

I had an idea of a SuperTux add-ons based on memes. I didn't make a single of these levels, I just have this list of level names:

  1. Orange Island
  2. Lychee Island
  3. Epilepsy Intensifies
  4. Hume's Crazy Everything
  5. Everything Intensifies
  6. Badguys Army
  7. Marathon
  8. Intermezo with Annoying Sounds
  9. Tux Folds the Corporal
  10. Super-truper-impossible-hard Level
  11. Three Types of Lava
  12. Low-budget Adventures
  13. o_O
  14. 363-bit Totem Required
  15. Disguised Enemies
  16. Yeti Army
  17. 3D Maze
  18. King of Memes
  19. War of Operating Systems
  20. Funny Integrals

An old 2D game but 3D

Here is a list of games that could be remade in 3D, possibly using the Luanti engine. It could be interesting what challenges could the extra dimension bring.

Planting trees in my own fecals

Why should I pay for getting rid of my sewage? I asked M$ Copilot how to use it to plant trees. But fecals alone don't suffice. I need to mix it with some kind of carbon-rich material. Leaves, wood pulp, shredded paper, all these would do. Mix it together with sand and leave it in a bucket for like 6 weeks. And I have fertile soil for planting trees! Then grow the trees and sell them for money! Just note that using some kinds of leaves is not suitable for all plants, as they decompose to chemicals, which are toxic for most plants, except the plants which produce these kind of leaves, obviously. These trees include walnut, oak, acer, and chestnut maybe? I don't remember. Also if I ever run my own company, I'm not going to use shredder to discard sensitive documents. I'm going to compost them instead, that's way more ecological!

Breeding slugs for food

Why should I buy overpriced meat, when I can grow it at home with little to no effort? I just need a bath, some salt around, and some grass or leaves to feed them by. If I cook them, grind and optionally mix with some spices, they shouldn't be disgusting anymore. Another advantage is, that the slug excrements can be directly used as fertiliser and don't need to be comnposted in advance. Just feeding them over winter can be challenging.

Something between Fez and SuperTux

I had a dream about playing a SuperTux add-on, which had graphics very similar to Fez. I was playing an extraordinary long level, which was assembled out of white and grey blocks. There weren't many enemies but there were a lot of moving blocks. It had strong city vibes, but it wasn't situated in any kind of city. It also had backgrounds composed out of tiles, similarly as in TuxQuest.
